Step -1 ยท Monetization First by BlogToPin
How Do You Actually Make Money on Pinterest?
Traffic is pointless if it does not lead to revenue. Before you set up boards, pins, or automations, you need to understand how you can make money on Pinterest.
There are a lot of Pinterest account ran by teenagers. They just post random mood posts, their breakfast etc. They might get some likes. They might get a lot of followers. But they don't make money. At all
To make money on Pinterest, you don't need to think about likes, you don't need to think about followers
Pinterest is not about becoming an influencer. You can't get a huge brand deal if you're big on Pinterest(or chances are very very low)
You need to lead Pinterest users elsewhere. That's the only way to make money. So when you think about making money off Pinterest - you need to have something else. Something you can monetize. Pinterest will just pour a ton of traffic on your way.
The easiest/most common way to monetize your Pinterest account is to have display ads on your website. The logic is simple. You create, for instance, a chicken recipe, pin it on Pinterest. People want to cook the recipe, go to your website, they see the ads. You get paid some pennies for it.
It depends on the ad network you use, but if you're on a good network - you can expect 15$ RPM(Revenue per thousand sessions). So, with 1000 visitors - you will get 15$ of revenue.
It's a good start. But it's not a lot. And you should acknowledge that.
You can also sell your own products. If you have an ecommerce store - you can promote your own product on Pinterest. And even if your conversion is 1%, and your product costs 30$ - you get 300$ revenue with the same 1000 visitors.
That's already much better.
You can also offer your high-ticket services, do affiliate marketing, or promote digital products like eBooks. There are thousands of ways to monetize your Pinterest traffic. But you still need to have SOMETHING to monetize.
At this point, AI suggested me to write here a lot about optimizing your funnel, A/B testing ads etc. But to be honest - I don't think you need to do that
You need to have a rough understanding "ok, I will create posts about X and make money by doing Y". That's it
Then you need to go and do the hard work - actually create the content and get the traffic to your website
Ok, so now you know how to make money of Pinterest. But first, you need to validate your niche. Continue to Step 0: Is Pinterest Right For You? to validate your niche.
