Do Your Own Research
It's extremely easy
1. Think about the niche you want to target
2. Search for it on Pinterest
3. Take a look at the high-performing accounts in that niche
Ask yourself:
- Do they hit numbers I want? For instance, if you're aiming for 10000 monthly visits to your website, with 2% ctr(it's a good number), they need to have at least 500 000 monthly views. Do they have this number?
- Did they create any pins recently?
- What exactly do they target?
It's extremely subjective and depends on your goals. If you're a high-ticket travel agency, and you can earn thousands from 1 client - even having 1000 leads to your website - is good enough
But if you're a recipe website - and you wanna earn with ads - it's obvious you need much higher number of Visitors
Check your competition and see what numbers they hit
For instance, let's imagine you're in a "AI SaaS" niche.
Open pinterest.com, search for "AI SaaS". Then, open this link in Incognito mode
In my case, the only "big" account I found was WealthyTent, they focus on Affiliate Marketing
But if you're building a tool to create viral TikTok videos - it might be for you
But once again - there are no big "SaaS" profiles. It means you should probably aim to 500k monthly views per month(maximum!)
If you wanna go with "AI SaaS" - you probably need to pivot into "Moneymaking" niche, that could work
Now, let's look at another example. Let's imagine you wanna tell everyone about cocktail recipes you make
Once again, you search for something like "margarita recipe", open the first profile
You can see there are a lot of accounts doing 10M+ views. And a lot of them are focusing not only on cocktails
What does it tell us?
First of all - it means you can get the audience there. People are on Pinterest looking for This
But also - maybe you need to broaden your niche at some point? For instance, you can start with cocktails and then pivot into recipes once you find more success
Content Type Assessment
Ask Yourself These Questions:
- Can my content be represented visually? (photos, infographics, videos)
- Is my content evergreen? (relevant for months/years)
- Do people search for my topics? (how-to, tips, ideas)
- Can I create 100+ unique pins per month?(don't worry, this can be automated. You probably need at least 10 unique content pieces though)
- Do I have monetization plan? Ads/Services/Affiliate Marketing/etc
Score: If you checked 3+ boxes, Pinterest is likely a good fit for you!
